My Story

Herbal Heritage

I grew up in rural Flanders, Belgium and from a young age was taught about botany, wildflowers and traditional herbal medicine by the women in my family. This heritage led me to investigate the benefits of herbal medicine at university level in the UK and I have enjoyed this return to my ancestral roots.

I mainly work with private clients but also spend some of my time teaching herbal workshops and holding herbal walks to help raise more awareness of herbal remedies amongst the public. Please note that all workshops are now run remotely – do contact me to find out more. Herbal walks, for the time being, have been cancelled.

I am a fully qualified Medical Herbalist with a BSc (Hons) degree in Herbal Medicine from the University of Westminster, London and graduated in 2008. I am a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists and the Herb Society. I am trained in the same diagnostic skills as a GP, but take a holistic approach to illness, treating the underlying cause of disease rather than just the symptoms.

Herbal remedies can be prescribed alongside other medication and treatments, if appropriate, and many patients are referred to a medical herbalist by their GP or by other health practitioners.

Over the past fifteen years I have gained much experience in my field, making use of plants whose traditional uses are backed up by modern scientific research and clinical trials. Herbal Medicine can treat a range of conditions relating to fertility, immunity, emotional health, digestive health, skin, allergies and much more.

Herbal Medicine is suitable for people of any age, including children, who respond especially well to the gentle actions of herbs. Each patient is treated as an individual – as a medical herbalist, I recognise that no two patients are the same.

Practising herbal medicine is a great honour for me. To be able to enter into a wholesome healing relationship with my patients and to utilise the powerful effects of natural plant medicines is my life’s work.
